Enter a Consultation request for our panel at Manchester Social Media Surgery events

Ahead of tomorrow’s soft launch* of Manchester Social Media Surgery events, and as a template for future events, I suggest participants to Social Media Surgery events that wish to ask questions of the panel enter a ‘Consultation request’ for our ‘surgeons’.

The panellists (aka ‘surgeons’) at Manchester Social Media Surgery events will represent social media consultants, web developers, journalists and owners of small businesses who have successfully used social media to promote their products and services.

What is a Consultation request?

A Consultation request is a 150 word description of your project or social media problem. This brief overview should succinctly state your project’s aims or, alternatively, your social media problem. Please include specific requests for help with aspects of the project that need social media to succeed.

How do I post a Consultation request?

You can enter a Consultation request for discussion at a Social Media Surgery event by posting a new Discussion topic to the Social Media Surgery Group on the Social Media Cafe Manchester Ning network.

Social Media Surgery Group:
http://socialmediamanchester.ning.com/group/socialmediasurgery

Please include your company name in the Title of the Discussion, straight after the words "Consultation request"

An example Consultation request
Here's an example.

This Consultation request entered by 'Acme Stationary Ltd' would appear as a Discussion post with the following title:

Consultation request: Acme Stationary Ltd

Here’s the full description. Note that this is only 87 words.

"How do we use social media to attract more customers and let people know about our new range of environmentally friendly sellotape?

We are a small, family-run business based in Greater Manchester. We are new to social media but want to start using it a lot more as we have noticed that some of our customers are discussing our competitors on Twitter.

We’d like to offer our customers a way to talk to us and about us on things like Twitter and Facebook. Where should we start?"

Hope that was clear.

If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to post them as new Discussion posts here or on Twitter using the #mansms hashtag.

Thanks.

*The first Manchester Social Media Surgery Event took place at Manchester Metropolitan University's Business Incubator Innospace on Chorlton Street on Tuesday 8th December 2009 from 2pm to 4pm.

Here's what happened at the event.
